Neelam is a qualified and accredited Counsellor, specialising and accredited in both Islamic and Humanistic Counselling, with almost 30 years’ experience in therapy with clients of various backgrounds, including different faiths, ethnicities and ages. Perhaps the first to be accredited by the BACP in both Humanistic (Transactional Analysis, Person Centred and Existential) and Islamic Counselling, she is able to make use of a variety of methodologies to work with her clients as required.
Neelam has experience of working with a range of issues, including bereavement and relationships, and is committed to providing professional counselling in a safe, supportive, confidential and non-judgemental environment. She currently runs her own private practice for face-to-face, telephone-based and online counselling as well as a telephone-based listening service for women.
Neelam also regularly contributes to the mental health arena through media appearances and delivering speeches, seminars and workshops on various topics, including the intersection of faith and mental well-being. She has strategic board and advisory experience through her previous roles at the national charity, Muslim Women’s Sport Foundation, and a variety of others, including the Metropolitan Police.
Both Neelam and The Listening Service were recognised as shortlisted finalists for the Asian Women of Achievement Awards in the Humanitarian category in 2010 and 2015, respectively. Neelam was also a shortlisted finalist for the 2019 Asian Achievers’ Awards in the Community Service category.
